The Benn Bursary

To apply to the Benn Bursary you can get a form online here. This requires you to fill out your expenses for the term, including:

• your university fees
• your rent
• any utility costs (your electricity bill for the term)
• the kitchen fixed charge you pay
• the cost of your meals
• any costs arising from disabilities, inc glasses and prescriptions
• clothing
• entertainment
• course books
• laundry

It also asks you to include your costs for the previous vacation. It’s important to find all these costs out, so that you can give accurate information on the form.

Of course, to work out what your deficit is, they also ask for your income. You can apply for the Benn Bursary whether or not you get grants on top of your maintenance loan. If your parents are expected to support you through university, and are giving you less than is expected then you can apply for this bursary. However, they ask you to explain why you are not getting the expected level of support.
