Hermes Webmail pilot

by Oli Lane

Webmail Pilot

The University Computing Service is currently trialling a new version of Hermes Webmail, with the rather distinct advantage that this time around it doesn’t make you want to gouge your eyes out every time you use it! It’s still in its testing phase, but from what I’ve seen it’s already miles better than the previous incarnation.

If you want to check it out, use the above link (don’t worry, you can still use the old version after trying it if you don’t like it). The link in the Quick Links sidebar will stay pointing to the current version, so if you want to use the new version as your normal client you’ll have to add it to your bookmarks (or there’s a link on the normal login page).

Update: the pilot seems to have gone well, and the new version will become the default interface starting on the 5th of August. The old interface will be available here for the next 12 months if you’re an insane person.
