Physical Health & Medical Contacts

Useful Contacts

The NHS 111 non-emergency service is available to call 24 hours a day, and gives advice on what your next steps should be if you are feeling unwell/suffer an injury, but it is not urgent or an emergency.

The NHS website is great for checking symptoms and getting information on what to do next.

The college nurse is also available for non-urgent queries. Her contact details are on the College Support page.

Urgent Treatment

If you or someone near you is in a life-threatening condition you should call 999 as soon as possible to contact the emergency services. If someone needs to see a doctor or nurse urgently but is not in a life-threatening condition then you can either make your way to Addenbrooke’s hospital A&E or arrange an appointment with the out-of-hours urgent treatment centre by calling 111. For more information you can visit the Addenbrooke’s website here and the urgent treatment centre’s website here.

Finding a GP

When you first come to Cambridge it’s best to register with a local GP, as doing so helps you to get urgent appointments at short notice. In previous years this has been done with the college’s help in freshers week, but if for whatever reason you need help registering don’t hesitate to ask. The surgeries closest to college are Trumpington Street Medical Practice, City Centre Medical Practice (on the first floor of Boots) and Bridge Street Surgery. These are all within a 5-minute walk from college.

Reproductive Health

The JCR provides a range of free menstrual supplies located in both the Jerwood library toilets and the welfare lockers distributed across college sites. More information can be found on the sexual health section of the JCR website.

Dental Care

Most students choose to continue with their previous dentists and attend check-ups during holidays. If you wish to attend a dentist in Cambridge for whatever reason a list of nearby practices can be found here.
